The orthodontist raved about the wonders of Invisalign and that it would be the same price as wire braces but MUCH better and faster. Well my then 14 yr old who is now 15 yrs old has just had her 4th refinement.

This means that she is STARTING OVER again. The dentist was upset at her and me at the last appointment because our daughters front teeth are not closing as they should. Our orthodontist told me that this is the LAST time he will remake her braces..... I have paid this man $4,000 and he is going to call it quits if her teeth do not close?

Our daughter has been in these braces for a year and a half. Her teeth really look no different. I do believe that she is not always following the instructions as she should be. I do not think she is always chewing on the "chewy" to "set" the braces so they fit on her teeth correctly, each and every time she eats or brushes her teeth.

I caught her the other day NOT wearing her braces while she was at school for 8 hours. It is a big stress on the parent if you have a teen that is not mature enough to take on the responsibility of 1. Not loosing the braces. 2.

Remembering to change into the next set on time. 3. Remembering to chew on the Chewy to make sure the braces sit correctly on the teeth and to always have one with her at all times. 4.

Remember to actually put the braces back on after eating OR to even wear them at all. YES metal braces are a pain in the butt but your teen will not loose them or forget when to change into a new set or forget to wear them at all because metal braces the child can NOT remove! Invisalign is one BIG headache for the parent unless you have a super responsible, mature teen, if you do then God bless you. If you don't have a teen that is ultra responsible then get metal braces and do NOT let your orthodontist talk you into anything else.

One more thought, I believe that the orthodontist makes a LOT more money with Invisalign because I am aware that there is MUCH less work required with Invisalign vs metal braces. Metal braces do require more hands on by the staff. I believe that is why so many offices PUSH the Invisalign braces over the metal ones. Metal braces do require the child to brush their teeth well and often or decay will happen.

Note: We have over the years had 7 kids in braces.

Several years ago another daughter was in Invisaline for almost 2 years with virtually the same problems we are experiencing right now. I said ENOUGH and we switched to metal braces, the orthodontist was not happy with me gee that is just too bad!

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Can't agree more. Invisalign is not THE solution for teenagers.

They want to be responsible but the hormones are in their way. We are going through exactly the same what you describe and are expected to pay $850 to end the one-year-Invisalign-nightmare and get metal braces put in by the same ortho. And they told us at the beginning that metal braces would take longer and cost more.

We just wasted 1 year! and many grey hairs

Can't understand that orthodontist. Putting a teen in Invisalign is just plain stupid.

Too many compliance problems. I have been doing braces for over 30 years.

And if you think Ivisalign is a bad idea, just think what that stupid Smile Club Direct DIY orthodontics is like. A disaster!

Thanks for being an honest orthodontist. Why is there no contra-advertising?
